Therapy or Antidepressants?
Today I’d like to open up another topic for discussion.
Do you think it’s better to tolerate emotional pain or take antidepressant medication – and Why?
Ultimately there is no “right” or “wrong” answer to this question (although I realize that some of you will have strong reactions). Please keep your answers respectful, informative, and on topic and hopefully we’ll get some good learning.
P.S. I’ll go first. I believe that if a person is feeling overwhelmed by emotional distress, therapy may be necessary to help them regain their bearings. Nevertheless, antidepressant (anti-anxiety) medication may be the logical first step towards dropping anchor in the stormy sea of turbulent emotions.
P.P.S. You can leave an answer in the comment section below or simply think through an answer in your mind, whatever is more comfortable for you.

I agree totally with your points. One problem with meds is the tendency to over medicate and become numb to our feelings & amp emotions….The best way to handle difficult times, would be to find someone with whom you can safely express your feelings & amp; the meds to get over the humps…
Judy– Your point is well taken. Because anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medications have the potential of over-amplifying or under-amplifying our feelings and emotions it becomes imperative to be in frequent contact with the prescribing physician when taking them.
