Keeping it Simple is Good for Mental Health and Family Life
My clients in recovery from addictions are fond of the slogan “Keep it Simple.” In the hustle and bustle of today’s busy society we have become inculcated with the belief that complexity is superior to simplicity. Nevertheless, never in the history of the world have we been plagued with depression and isolation as we are today. Before putting up this blog, which cost me next to nothing other than the time and effort it takes me to write and research, I was convinced that I would need to spend lots of money. The compulsion to spend money and complicate things often results in a variety of mental and physical disorders, as well as troubled family life. Our problems are usually only as complex and unmanageable as we choose for them to be, so let’s remember to “keep it simple”. Focusing on what we can accomplish rather than on what we can’t accomplish, will be good for our mental health as well as our family life.
