12 Things I learned From Touring with the Grateful Dead
During my teenage years I did some touring with the Grateful Dead. Here are 12 things I learned from those times:
- The process of getting to the show is usually even more fun the the show itself.
- Simple food tastes great.
- Doing random acts of unexpected kindness (especially for people you don’t even know) does more for the giver than for the receiver.
- Not getting into a show (i.e. not getting what you want) is often a golden opportunity to spend time getting to know yourself better.
- The health benefits of dancing are many.
- The health benefits of joy are many.
- The health benefits of adventure are many.
- “Sometimes there’s nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile.”
- “Sometimes you might just find you see the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.”
- “Don’t let go because you’re afraid to fall.”
- “You are the eyes of the world.”
- “Sometimes we go through life crippled but free, blind all the time we are learning to see.”
